How It Works

See it in action — 90 seconds

The Problem

The Ad Library is a goldmine.
It's also a nightmare to use.

You open the Facebook Ad Library with the best of intentions. An hour later you've got forty screenshots in a folder, seventeen tabs open, and no real insight into what your competitors are actually doing.

You're collecting ads, not learning from them.

Three steps.
That's it.

Privacy & Trust

Runs on your Mac.
Nowhere else.

No Glean server

The app talks directly to Claude and Facebook from your Mac. Your competitive research never passes through a server we run — because we don't run one.

Your data stays local

Everything Glean generates lives in a folder on your Mac. Yours to keep, share, or delete. Uninstalling doesn't touch it.

Bring your own Claude key

Pay Anthropic directly (about 2¢ per ad analyzed). Glean takes no cut, sees no usage. Your API key lives encrypted in macOS Keychain — never visible in any UI.

Signed & notarized by Apple

Glean is a verified macOS app — Apple has confirmed it contains no malware. Opens cleanly with a double-click, no Gatekeeper warnings.

No telemetry, no tracking

Glean ships zero analytics code. The developer never sees what brands you study, what you analyze, or what your storyboards say.

One-time purchase

No monthly bill, no usage caps, no team-seat charges. Buy once, use on every Mac you own.

FAQ

If you can use Chrome, you can Glean.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Glean is a native Mac app — drag the icon to your Applications folder, double-click the installer once, then open Glean like any other app. If you can use Safari, you can use Glean.

Why is Glean better than the online ad-intelligence tools?

Most of them are recurring SaaS at $80–150/month — and they mostly give you thumbnails and copy text. Glean is $79 once and gives you frame-by-frame storyboards with voiceover transcripts, on-screen text, scene descriptions, and structure analysis. One month of those tools costs more than Glean does forever. Plus, your competitive research stays on your Mac — not in someone else's database.

Can I trust it with my Mac and my data?

Glean is signed and notarized by Apple — they've verified it contains no malware. Everything you generate stays in a folder on your Mac. Nothing transits a Glean server because there isn't one. Read the full technical breakdown for what's installed, where, and why.

How much will I actually spend on Claude API?

About 2¢ per video ad and 1¢ per image ad. Analyzing 100 ads in a month is roughly $2 in Claude API costs. You bring your own key, so Glean takes no cut — your spend is transparent in your Anthropic dashboard, and you can cap or revoke access at any time.

Does Glean generate ads, or just analyze them?

Analyze (for now). Glean shows you what makes other people's ads work — hook, body, CTA, structure, transcripts. It doesn't write new ads, yet…

Do I need to do any prompt engineering?

No. The analysis prompts are all built into the app. You just pick the ads you want to study and click Analyze.

What's a Claude API key and how do I get one?

It's what lets the app talk to Claude AI. You get one at console.anthropic.com — it takes about two minutes to set up. The cost is usage-based and typically amounts to a couple cents per storyboard run. You're not signing up for another subscription.

Can I use GPT, Gemini, or another AI instead of Claude?

No — Glean is built specifically for Claude. The analysis prompts, vision handling, and frame-by-frame storyboard pipeline are all tuned to how Claude reads multimodal input, and it consistently produces the cleanest storyboards and structure analysis. Other models would need a different pipeline and the output quality wouldn't match. If that changes, I'll revisit it.

Is this different from just using the Facebook Ad Library directly?

Yes, completely. The Ad Library shows you ads in a clunky interface. Glean pulls all of them into a local gallery you can browse instantly, then uses Claude to analyze the ones you pick.

Mac only?

Yes, for now.

Does this work for TikTok, Google, or LinkedIn ads?

Facebook Ad Library only right now - it's the richest and most accessible.

What if the Facebook Ad Library changes and Glean breaks?

Glean checks for updates daily. When a new version is out, you'll see a banner inside the app with a link to download it. Free, no subscription.

From the maker

Hi, I'm Howard, a brand marketer and builder. Glean started as a tool I built for myself after spending hours every month saving ads from the Facebook Ad Library, but never really gleaning the intelligence I needed.

I wanted instant storyboards of actual video ads so I could quickly breakdown structured analysis in 30 seconds instead of an hour. Glean is that tool. I use it monthly on all my competitor research, and I'd love to hear what you do with it.
