Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These terms form a binding agreement between you and Howard Hunt, trading as Glean ("we", "us"), governing your use of the Glean macOS application and the website at getglean.ai. By purchasing Glean or using the website, you agree to these terms.

2. What you get

When you buy Glean, you receive:

• A license to install and use the Glean macOS application on every Mac you own personally.
• The right to use Glean for as long as it works on your Mac.
• Free updates to future versions of Glean (delivered via the in-app version-check banner).

Your license key is delivered via Gumroad after purchase. It is tied to your purchase, not to a single device.

3. What you don't get

The license does not include:

• Source code for Glean. You receive the compiled application only.
• The right to resell, sublicense, or distribute Glean to others. If a colleague wants to use Glean, they need to buy their own license.
• The right to reverse-engineer Glean to build a competing product.
• An Anthropic API key. Glean requires a Claude API key from console.anthropic.com (you pay Anthropic directly; costs vary with usage).
• Guaranteed uptime of third-party services Glean depends on (Facebook Ad Library, Anthropic API, Gumroad, Homebrew). If any of these change or shut down, Glean's functionality may be affected.

4. All sales final

Glean is a one-time digital purchase with no recurring billing, and once your license key is delivered you can immediately use Glean to extract competitive ad data — work that has real value to you. All sales are final and we do not offer refunds.

Before buying, you can review everything Glean does and how it does it:

• Main site — feature overview, gallery, sample storyboards
• How it works — full technical breakdown, what gets installed, privacy detail
• Privacy — data flows, third-party services
• Changelog — current version + release history

If you hit a genuine technical issue that prevents Glean from working on your Mac — license verification fails, the app won't launch, an install dependency conflict you can't resolve — email getgleanapp@gmail.com. We'll work with you in good faith to fix it. This is support, not a refund window.

5. Updates

Updates are free. The app checks once per day for new versions and shows a banner inside Glean when one is available. We may release updates that change features, add capabilities, or remove things that no longer work. We aim to give notice for material changes.

6. Third-party costs

Running Glean incurs usage costs on third-party services that you pay directly, not to us:

• Anthropic (Claude API) — typically a few cents per ad analyzed. Visible in your Anthropic dashboard. You can cap or revoke at any time.
• Internet usage for downloading ad videos.

Glean takes no commission or markup on these costs. We never see your API key or your spending.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Glean to violate any law applicable to you, including copyright, intellectual property, or platform terms.
• Use Glean to harass, defame, or harm a competitor's business beyond legitimate competitive research.
• Share, resell, or redistribute the Glean application or your license key.
• Attempt to circumvent the license verification.

The Facebook Ad Library is Meta's own public transparency tool — Glean accesses what is already publicly visible. You are responsible for your own use of the data you collect.

8. No warranty

Glean is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that Glean will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with future versions of macOS, Chrome, Facebook, or Anthropic's services. We test on current macOS releases but cannot guarantee behavior on every configuration.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Glean is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or business opportunity.

10. Termination

We may deactivate a license that violates these terms (for example, shared keys appearing on multiple unrelated accounts). You may stop using Glean at any time by deleting the application and your data folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Glean/.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be flagged via the in-app version-check banner and reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Glean after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved by correspondence will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Florida.
